This position requires an experienced Assistant State Attorney for the STOP Grant Position in our Domestic Violence Unit. This job description is a broad outline of the duties and responsibilities of this position and will be amended as needed to meet the program priorities of the State Attorney’s Office and their ensuing work requirements. Duties and Responsibilities:

- Conduct jury trials, non-jury trials, preliminary and pretrial hearings, and other related courtroom proceedings.
- Investigate, evaluate, and prepare cases for trial focusing on non-fatal strangulation DV cases with the highest risk for victims.
- Communicate with and serve as a liaison to victims, their family members, witnesses, and law enforcement personnel.
- Collect data required for program evaluation.
- Review protocols with members of working group to address preventing, identifying, and responding to strangulation victims.
- Participate in Working Group Activities.
- Coordinate with personnel assigned to oversight and implementation of the project for all activities related to the program.
- Be available to travel to attend training seminars and participate in community outreach including informing the community of services available to the victims and survivors.
- Other tasks as needed.
- Strong knowledge of Florida domestic violence law and Rules of Evidence
- Excellent trial advocacy, legal research, and writing skills
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- A minimum of three to five years of experience as a prosecutor
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently and as a team member
